Built in 1911, Iroquois Avenue Christ Lutheran Church can be a beautiful place for your wedding and reception. The sanctuary is newly repaired and painted. The church, located in Detroit’s Indian Village neighborhood, is on the National Register of Historic Places. The recently renovated  first floor sanctuary seats up to 250 people. We have rooms available for your ceremony and rehersal and also your reception. A paved parking lot, attractively fenced, is located across from the church.

Wedding Fees:
The renter agrees to  pay a fee of $1200 to the church for use of the sanctuary for the rehearsal and ceremony. Included is use of the choir room (with large mirrors) as a dressing room, the restrooms, coatroom and parking lot.
The custodian will open and close the church, be present during the rehearsal and ceremony, assist in setting up and taking down any tables, chairs, and candle holders, and help in the arrangement of the facility as needed. Additional services may be arranged. A security guard is provided in the parking lot, on the day of the wedding.
A deposit of $500 is required upon signing the rental agreement. The remaining $700 is due two weeks before the event.
Reception at the Church:
Having your reception at Iroquois Avenue Christ Lutheran can an elegant and economical choice. The large lounge can seat over 80 for dinner. The adjoining small lounge can seat 30 more. For a “strolling” reception, the lounges can accommodate over 150.  Chairs and tables are available and a small kitchen is located near the lounges. You may hire a caterer or bring in your own food and beverages, including beer and wine.
Reception rental start at only $200. Fees will be based on the space used (i.e. large lounge, small lounge, first floor kitchen), use of tables, chairs, dishes, glasses and custodial services. For large, informal receptions a gymnasium and a large commercial kitchen are available on the second floor.
Music for the Wedding:
Daniel Herman, director of music, is a talented organist and can provide music for your wedding. The church’s vintage Austin organ has the rich sound only found with a true pipe organ.  A grand piano is also available. Daniel can help you select music for your ceremony and can arrange the services of other musicians and vocalists. The fee for service is negotiated between the musician(s) and the renter. You may also use the church sound system or bring in your own musicians.
